Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule

The official list below lists reserved time periods - not confirmed exams. Check with your instructor whether or not the course will have its final exam during this period.

Before registering, be sure to read the Goethe exam guidelines and the terms and conditions on each exam page. Be sure to sign up for the right exam level.

Locations

The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Please consult individual exam pages for additional guidelines, terms and conditions and exam information. If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness, hearing or visual impairment, you should contact the exam provider directly and make sure to provide a detailed document at the time of registration.

Additionally the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for classes that have exams required by NYSED regulations. Final exams for classes that are held in the evenings are scheduled for the regular class meeting times of the final exam weeks.

Registration

The exam schedule is available on the internet, and students are advised to look it up. It is important to keep in mind that the schedule for exams may change at any moment. Students should therefore check with their instructors to confirm the exact time and date of their test. Students should also make sure to print the official list and bring it with them to their exams.

In addition to the exam schedule, students should familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines and conditions and terms. These are available on the individual exam pages. Students acknowledge having read and agree to the terms and conditions upon registration.



Exam sites make every effort to accommodate those with special requirements. The nature and the extent of these needs must be stated on the registration form and verified by a doctor's attestation. The locations of the exam must be able to respect confidentiality and keep it.

If students are scheduled to take three tests on the same day, they should contact their instructor or department in order to arrange for a make-up test. It is possible to have three examinations on the same day. However, this could result in a lot of stress and can affect the quality of the exam. The professor might not be able to offer a makeup test on another day.

Students should review the course material prior to taking the test and work on their German skills. The test is a written test that tests your ability to read, speak, and write German. The results of the test are reported using a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the exam receive a Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate confirms that the student has achieved language level A1. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competency laid out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free. Students must bring a valid government-issued ID to the test. Those without a valid photo identification will be disqualified.

Fees

If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to obtain an Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you'll need to pay the exam fee. This is in addition to the course fees.

Practice tests give you an overview of the style and wording, as well as the difficulty of the questions on the test. They allow you to assess your knowledge level, find gaps in knowledge and improve your chances of passing the exam.

Please be aware that the fee for exams is not refundable. Examination results are only available via email and not by phone.
